With the release of PHP 5.1.0 you will find that not only are their bug fixes and improvement but over 30 new functions in various extensions.
On the security side the phpinfo() cross site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been addressed along with bypass possibilities with safe_mode/open_basedir.

The webcam page has been updated, now I have three cams with two online all the time and the third connected to my laptop and only online when I take the time to connect the webcam and point it at something interesting.

I have just had a talk to person that I would have to classify as a Perl advocate just as I would be classified as being the same for PHP.
Perl 6 looks like a real change in direction for perl and many of the issues I have had with perl 5 and below seem to be answered in the perl 6 development.
No beta is even available at this time but I would suggest you have a read of this site just as I did to come up with the information found above:

| Novell Announces Acquirement of SUSE LINUX
|
Novell today announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire SUSE LINUX, one of the world’s leading enterprise Linux companies, expanding Novell’s ability to provide enterprise-class services and support on the Linux platform. With the open source expertise of SUSE LINUX and Novell’s world-class networking and identity solutions and support, training and consulting services, Novell will be able to deliver Linux and all its components – from the server to the desktop – and give organizations a secure, reliable and mature Linux foundation. Novell will pay $210 million in cash to complete the acquisition. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and the winding up of shareholder agreements. Novell expects the transaction to close by the end of its first fiscal quarter (January 2004).
